Globalization in India has undoubtedly led to a very high growth rate. The impact on labour has not been a healthy one. The economic liberalization result in creating more employment opportunities at the same time the fact remains that due to large-scale automation and closure of small–scale industries, the unemployment rate has gone up. This book analysed the social security concept, schemes, legal and judicial frame work. The impact of the economic change over due to globalisation on the unorganised workers has been analysed. The recent trends in safeguarding the social security of the unorganised workers have been dealt with completely. The International standards in securing the social security, the response of Indian legislature and judiciary were presented in a lucid manner.

Dr S. Srinivasan has over 33 years of experience in teaching and research at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He earned his PhD from Utkal University, Bhuvaneswar, with a focus on the impact of globalization on industrial workers in unorganized sectors, specifically regarding social security laws.
The professor’s teaching and research interests include Constitutional Law, Labour Law, Social Security laws, Public Law, Child Rights, Right to Education, and laws related to Social Justice. He has participated in numerous conferences and seminars related to legal studies.
He is passionate about organizing group activities for law students and experts, including seminars, conferences, training programmes, moot courts, competitive events, and a model parliament.
He has participated in over 30 national and international seminars, conferences, and workshops, and published approximately 30 research articles in national and international journals. He is a recognised PhD supervisor at Pondicherry University, produced 5 PhD scholars, and evaluated over 26 PhD theses. He is frequently invited to deliver lectures and is a member of various professional bodies and expert committees of universities and academic bodies. He was also appointed as a Special Officer by the Government of Puducherry to establish a National Law University in the Union Territory of Puducherry.
